Melbourne based mixed media artist, Kelly Basford has been honing her craft from the day she could delicately grasp a brush in her hand. She draws inspiration from the beauty and wonder of the natural world, particularly the vastness and magic of the stars and constellations that paint the sky . Kelly works with a wide range of art mediums, but has a love for acrylics and watercolour, to convey the delicateness and stillness within her finished works and offers the viewer an opportunity to pause and reflect on these same qualities within themselves.

When you look at my art, the thing I want you to feel is...
What is offered within my artworks is the opportunity to feel and reflect upon the delicateness, stillness and joy found within the natural world and how this in turn is equally found within us too.
I believe art is an important part of our lives because...
The importance of art within our lives is to offers us an opportunity to stop, connect and reflect on life itself. Art is also not just about a painting on a wall its asking us to see the beauty and simplicity of life as art. Life itself can be art if we so choose to see and observe it in this way.
