Artist bio

I am a self-taught artist, with a formal education in Psychology and Sociology. I am inspired by differences in the human condition and societal experience. Specifically, how the conscious and subconscious selfs' interlink and opposes one another. I often explore the duality of the human condition and collective experience in a playful yet lurid tone. My practice plays on macabre themes in a light manner, often humorous yet somewhat solemn. I embrace contrasts and similiarties, colours and monotones, mediums and solubles, sandpaper and silk.

I create art because...

Art provides me with a platform of inquiry. Ultimately to embrace and understand my surroundings, considerably towards subjective and collective experiences. Coming from an educational background in Psychology and Sociology, I became interested in the polarization of human emotion and societal experience. The stark similarities and multiple dualities within the individual and collective experience. Specifically, how I can translate that into my own visual language.

I am different to most artists because...

I am completely self-taught.

When you look at my art, the thing I want you to feel is...

An unknown familiarity.

The thing I most want to say to non-artists is...

Embrace and question.

I believe art is an important part of our lives because...

It further promotes human expression and the collective experience.
