Karen Hopkins

Karen Hopkins is an expressionist and abstract painter who has been training for over 20 years. Her paintings reflect themes inspired by nature, emotions, and human interaction. By varying colour, texture, form and rhythm she aims to take the viewer on a journey and explore the deeper levels that connect us all.

We are often confronted by unknown situations in our lives and the challenge of stepping into them demands courage to step through our fears this painting inspired by the vastness and ever changing faces the outback uses the landscape as a metaphor to feel our fears but still continuing on our journey ahead.

Rose Giardina

Being the 8th in a large family of 14, Rose Giardina was never encouraged to ‘…waste time on something like creativity’. This was advice she took until, at 55, Giardina enrolled in a 7-day ‘non-speaking’ meditation. From this formative experience, she emerged as an artist, brimming with emotion, inspiration flowing.

Like the lineage of the family, Giardina connects her paintings through the continued use of leftover paint from one work to another, ensuring a thread that joins her pieces.

In City Views, the large scale and use of perspective indeed suggest part of a city. On closer view though, it is still ambiguous. What are we looking at? Is it a view up through buildings, towards the sky? City Views often follow certain conventions, so the ambiguity here is refreshing. We love having familiar things shown to us in new ways!

An artist with years of experience in visual arts and printmaking, SAAN has always held a strong fascination with line, colour and texture.

Interestingly, the organic nature of SAAN’s works comes from her childhood growing up in a medical household. Table-side conversations about the micro and macro of life influence her perceptions of the environment.

Completed Cycles is about the cycles we all complete in life annually, taken down to a cellular level, hence the multiple layers, rich textures and colours.

Venus Virgin Tomarz

Venus Virgin Tomarz is the product of a rampant imagination that found itself applying to all areas of beauty, business and enterprise. There was something missing though. She found it in the wardrobe of deluxe fabrication. The wow factor made her whole. Her fate was to be a femme. The proper use of the femme fatale if the truth to be known.

Venus Virgin Tomarz explains her art best: “Don’t worry, those are not skin flakes on your shoulders, they’re stardust. Everyone glistens when they get on the very fast missile of Venus Virgin Tomarz. Old value systems farewell. This is a new art that’s easy to get on board and fly away with. Go with my flow, breathe easy and be part of Tomarz arts. It collides past, present and future into one gloriously large package. Tied with a bow.”
