Welcome our latest exhibiting member: OneFortyOne Plantation

Art on Display

To kick off this seasons summer rotation, we’re welcoming a new client and Melbourne gallery, OneFortyOne Plantation. Not only are they a world-class sustainable forest grower and forest products company but they’re on board to support local artists and improve creativity in their workplace.

They wanted to support local artists, so we curated a personal collection with artworks from Leigh Webster, Clan Collective and Paris Tremayne

Check out this summer’s new rotation:

Leigh Webster

Leigh Webster has completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (2000) and a Post Graduate Diploma in the Visual Arts at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) in 2001.

Since then, he has continued his study with completing a Diploma of Education, Visual Arts (2004) and more recently completed a Post Graduate in Educational Research (2018) as well as commencing a PhD research study within the visual arts.

Webster’s work investigates beauty through depicting natural environments bereft of human involvement. It explores ways in which viewing a landscape can improve concentration and positively influence a state of well-being.

In 2018, Webster was a finalist in the prestigious biennial John Leslie Art Prize in Landscaping.

Reflections

Oil and enamel on canvas

152h x 121cm

$3,200

If this artwork could talk, it would say how it is aimed at depicting the world entirely through the use of varied colour and distinct shape. The work enables the viewer to delve into an image and focus completely on how an image has been constructed while giving the freedom of having no boundaries.

Clan Collective

If this artwork could talk, it would encourage its human viewers to observe the beauty of the natural world that exists around them—to take time out from the manic daily grind of their metropolitan lives and to switch off the accompanying, deafening internal dialogue.

Digital manipulation was key in the creation of this artwork—it made melding two worlds, both natural and digital—possible. Through the digital exaggeration of natural texture, the resulting artwork draws the attention of the modern, visually overstimulated viewer to the beauty already existing in nature.

Paris Tremayne

We asked Paris Tremayne: “If this artwork could be any other art form, what would it be?”

His response: “A song. This piece portrays the bridge to other worlds, and their song is how they communicate across the cosmos.”

ColourSpace - Paris Tremayne - World Bridger - OneFortyOne

World Bridger

Synthetic polymer paint on canvas

Paris Tremayne is an artist who values the intuitive processes of the heart over the thinking and planning processes of the mind. When discussing his work Tremayne shares a Zen saying: “The minute you think you understand zen, you’re in trouble”. The idea that you do not need to understand something to gain from it applies to a lot of art – you are free to enjoy it and take from it what you want!
