Alex has been drawing and painting all her life and had a creative career as a knitwear designer. In recent years her art has evolved into abstract form and explores colour, form and movement. She is inspired by place and light, especially the details in the natural and man-made environment that form pattern and repetition. She uses gestural marks to bring shape and movement into focus, colours are juxtaposed to describe light. Alex likes to show the progression of a work leaving the brushstrokes raw and immediate and allowing the under layers to remain part of the composition. You can see the action of the artist in these marks made with traditional and non traditional tools. Alex works in acrylic paint, mixed media and collage.
