Deidre Ogilvie

Artist bio

Working in oils, watercolours, acrylics, and alcohol ink. I have also been exploring mixed media, colours, and textures, experimenting with different techniques, and merging these to create original pieces of art. The works I create are influenced by my travels, garden, and photographs. My latest project is working with stones and shells to create everyday scenes. I have done commissions of paintings for kid’s bedrooms, using images of their favourite things and places and contemporary scenes of Capital cities. With each new painting I learn more of the excitement that comes from creating something special, with tonal values, colours, composition, and light. My group Creativity Cluster has inspired me to expand my art practice, with this group I won a grant from the MCC to stage an exhibition at the Docklands Library.

When you look at my art, the thing I want you to feel is...

My hope is that you will look again and it will brighten your day.

The thing I most want to say to non-artists is...

This is my favourite quote "If you are willing to do something that may not work you're one step closer to being an artist"
