Jas Streten

Born in Katherine, Northern Territory, I have lived Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria over the last 30 years. I now live in Melbourne, Victoria. My inspiration comes from the culture of Melbourne and childhood in the Australian Outback.

I paint in acrylic on traditional canvas as well as plywood and ACM (aluminium composite material) and MDF.

My images reflect differing responses to my surroundings. Each image is a snapshot in time of where I am and what is happening around me.

When you look at my art, the thing I want you to feel is...

curiosity about the world around you, your surroundings and your relationship with them. How they shape you and how your state of mind influences how you see your surroundings.

it is an interest and I have the opportunity to be able to paint.
