Joy Chiang

Joy is a self-taught visual artist with a background in urban planning. Joy describes her mixed media art as the physical manifestation of her curiosity intersecting with the start of an early mid-life crisis; blending inspiration from nature and adding explosions of city chaos. Her beautiful emotive pieces are inspired by her journey through motherhood and the relationship between her and her daughter.

Her work is spontaneous but intentional. Her paintings feature bold brushstrokes, colourful pattern's, and exuberantly painted movement. Giving the false impression of simplicity whilst remaining passionately complex. Her use of Chinese calligraphy brushes and inks pays homage to her Chinese heritage where she was born.
