Michael Hawkins

Artist bio

Michael Hawkins is an emerging Artist and Contemporary Printmaker who works from his studio in Melbourne. He has a Masters in Fine Art from RMIT, exhibits regularly in Melbourne and has undertaken a number of international Art residencies, including in the UK, Brazil and the United States. Michael was a finalist and Merit Award Recipient in The New Zealand Parkin Drawing Prize (2020). In his current body of work Michael is interested in evoking a dreamlike suspension between ‘threat’ and ‘growth’. Where the duality of a world that could be harmful, but is also abundant and generative, swarms the viewer through a playful and surreal lens.
