Michelle Connolly

Michelle Connolly is a mixed media painter and sculptor influenced by tribal and primitive artwork, she describes herself as a self-taught outsider artist. Based in Wilmington, North Carolina, USA for seven years, 2007-2014, she was inspired by visionary/folk art and started to work with found material. Improvisation and play are key components to how Connolly creates her drawings. paintings and sculptures looking for the happy accidents to see characters in the marks that are made, an intuitive approach to making art. Michelle's artwork is collected in Australia and overseas.

A happy obsession with artmaking, it makes me happy and a way of communicating with other people.

I am prolific, creating many works in a short space of time, resulting in a studio full of creations. Never lost for inspiration.
