Nadia Culph

Artist bio

Photographic artist Nadia Culph manipulates & controls light. Her still life images are inspired by nature's curiosities and wonders. Keeping her composition simple, Nadia creates stunning photographs that aim to bring the intricate details of nature to the fore.
Living in Melbourne's leafy suburbs, Nadia takes inspiration from her local surroundings with a focus on Australian flora. Intrigued by unusual patterns, striking colour & bold contrasts, she uses natural light to capture the unique design of her botanical subjects.
With over 25 years experience in fine art photography, including 10 years in photographic printing, Nadia's images have made their way to homes & businesses around the globe. Her artworks currently hang throughout BASScare Morgan Glen Iris & are soon to be a part of the refurbishment of Rydges Melbourne & Sandstones Capella Sydney. She has provided artwork for local interior stylists & has worked with Peter Millard & partners & The Artling on large scale projects.

I create art because...

I create my images to capture the beauty of the natural world around us, to highlight the colour and intricate details that we often take for granted.

I am different to most artists because...

I often don't feel I'm creating the art, but the bystander simply paying homage and celebrating nature.

When you look at my art, the thing I want you to feel is...

Fascination, awe and appreciation, not of the artwork but of the subject itself.

I believe art is an important part of our lives because...

Art is communication, imagination, expression, creativity, it influences and connects, it creates discussion and appreciation. It's what makes us human.
