Rose Marshall
Artist bio
Rose Marshall is an Australian based artist who concentrates on texture and colour. "When I paint, I am driven to convey the calm aspect of nature. The subject matter might be the beach or the native bush, this dictates colour palette. The textural element replaces drawings and sketches. I cover the canvas with paint and then begin to layer and layer and layer. When the textural element is resolved I turn to colour. I often scrape, sand and rework the colour so the textural layers dominate. I want my works to immerse people in an emotional response that is calm, meditative and healing. My works are all over Australia with select pieces in European and American private collections. I love the marriage of a blank wal and a stunning piece of art."
I create art because...
I believe the spaces we live in are enhanced by a great aesthetic.
When you look at my art, the thing I want you to feel is...
calm and meditative.
The thing I most want to say to non-artists is...
enjoy art and be confident in your choices. If you love the piece it will work in any space for you.
I believe art is an important part of our lives because...
what we surround ourselves with matters.
