Taking many photographs of the same site, Jordan collects images of building in different lights, before reassembling them with photographs of graffiti, into fractured, re-constructed images.

Looking Into Water 1 and 2.
Flickering of the surface, light play beneath, a shifting of focus. A partner to Looking Into Water 2. This work has a black wood floating frame.
Filatura.
At the beginning of my knitwear career, I worked in Italy for a yarn manufacturer for a few months. A transformative experience in many ways.

She Talks Back. “This one was the child, Chelle (myself), talking to a toy dog who would talk back. This was in 1984 when I was 5. The toy talking barking dog was adapted by my mum who is an engineer, to talk back echoing my voice.”

The Excursion. “This one was the child, Chelle (myself), was riding on a double decker bus in Melbourne with other kindergarten friends. This was in 1982 when I was 3. Mum was trying to get me onto the bus safely.”

She Loves It. “This one was the child, Chelle (myself), was holding a moving interactive toy and laughing in a big armchair in the lounge room of our home in Narre Warren. This was in 1988 when I was 9.”

I Can Talk. “This one was the child, Chelle (myself), was looking up at my mum and trying to talk to her. She had just had my brother a month earlier. This was in 1982 when I was 3 and half. Mum was talking to me about my new baby brother.”

Minky Official. If this artwork could talk, it would say: “You better not put this on Instagram!“ The backstory of this artwork is that Juzpop’s partner came out in her silky kimono dressing gown pulling this ridiculously serious face.

Rebelle Fleur. Rebelle Fleur is a tribute to the star that fuses elegance with edginess: Rihanna. The hardest part of this painting was uniting these two classes of beauty that traditionally stand apart, edge and class.

Schoolboy Q. The paints Juzpop used for this piece she found on her trip to Japan in a little art shop in Tokyo. They are now an essential part of the medium she keeps in her studio, as she’d never seen such vibrant gouache colours in Australia before, no doubt influenced by the neon and bright lights of Tokyo.
