This series is Harris’ response to life. Its ups and its downs. Life can throw some pretty big, confronting things at us and it’s up to us to see and deal with the immensity of tidal waves as well as the calm. As such, this is a piece that invites slow contemplation, of consideration as you get drawn into the swells of the waves and the ship that is at its mercy, both the highs and lows.

The hardest thing is to know when to stop and accept a piece is completed. At times you feel you can always do more, add more colour, more depth, make it look more life-like, but there’s always a point where you must decide to stop. Jaber struggled to stop painting over this multiple times before she felt it was enough and ready to display. As in art, so to in business – there is always a desire to keep making tweaks. Where is the balance?
