Lysterfield Trees 101 x 152, Acrylic on Canvas

Mirabela Varga

Inspired by Lysterfield Park at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges, this piece is a symbol of a transformational time and re-creating oneself a new. Time well spent through rest and recreation can yield successful results when combined with a well thought out and executed vision. “Lysterfield Trees” was created using a palette knife, a tool that Varga cannot work without.

Ngaire Johansen

The series of works Johansen calls ‘fractured landscapes’ have evolved out of her understanding of relativity and space-time, so they are essentially about seeing beyond the immediate to other places and spaces of which we are consciously aware as separate and remote. Since the ‘fractures’ are random, this process is dictated by the lines and shapes that – once drawn on the canvas – take on a life of their own.
