Throughout past rotations, we’ve seen how the PEXA community have embraced new art and the transformation of their office. We can’t wait to find out what this exhibition will bring. Welcome to Pexa’s new gallery featuring artists Jessica Harris and Meghan Oare.

This series is Harris’ response to life. Its ups and its downs. Life can throw some pretty big, confronting things at us and it’s up to us to see and deal with the immensity of tidal waves as well as the calm. As such, this is a piece that invites slow contemplation, of consideration as you get drawn into the swells of the waves and the ship that is at its mercy, both the highs and lows.

Meghan Oare acknowledges that her paintings may appear like ‘organised chaos’. And, looking for a moment the ‘organisation’ becomes clear. In the repeated lines and marks we can see that the artists movements were repeated over and over again. This process of building up many intricate layers through repeated movements is known as gestural painting. It is painting made by the ‘gestures’ and movements of the artists body. Well known masters of this style of painting (also called action painting or abstract expressionism) include Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner.
