Artist bio

I am Melbourne based visual artist, searching and exploring my multicultural identities through the process of creating art. I was born in Seoul and moved to Melbourne in 2000 to study fine art at the Victorian College of Arts majored in painting. I have worked in a range of creative industries after my study such as theatre design, art directing, interior decoration and graphic design.
I recently has returned my heart to painting after a long break to learn and explore all the unknowns in myself and the world around me. I practice art by exploring and experimenting a range of different styles of paintings. My abstract paintings are mainly inspired by endless episode of mundane days and my memories of people, objects, events and feelings which are painfully subjective but longing for objective appreciation. I wish to make a dialogue between all of us through my art to love and share with others.

I create art because...

I love and live.

I am different to most artists because...

I am an individual human-being and there is no another me.

When you look at my art, the thing I want you to feel is...

what you want to feel connecting with your own self.

The thing I most want to say to non-artists is...

If you find something you love, you don't need to find reasons why. All you need to do is cherish it.

I believe art is an important part of our lives because...

It shows and tells you things that we cannot possibly explain with words.
