Renée Garling

Artist bio

Born to a Australian father and Polish mother, Renée Garling is a multi-disciplinary creative who's first incarnation as a graphic designer saw her pop up at print shops and newspapers across New South Wales and Victoria.

However, her main artistic outlet is photography. Renée has been capturing curious patterns, textures and eye catching images from natural and built environments for as long as she can remember.

Renée explored printmaking in her studio at Armadale's iconic Firestation Print Studio including the photogravure method of printing photographs via the presses.

Described as an enigmatic outsider-on-the-inside, it's hard to pigeon hole Renée. She deftly eludes genre while her anarchic yet kind hearted spirit tends to shine through in her work.

I create art because...

It's what I was made to do. It helps me understand what's going on internally on a subconscious level.

I am different to most artists because...

I'm not pretentious.

When you look at my art, the thing I want you to feel is...

Awakened and curious.

The thing I most want to say to non-artists is...

So much thought, work and love go into artist's creations. Real art is irreplaceable. Consider employing an illustrator/artist/photographer before asking AI to provide you with soulless slop.

I believe art is an important part of our lives because...

It's uniquely human. Something that requires us take a moment to stop, think and reflect. Art can put a whole new mood and perspective on things allowing you to go back out into the world with fresh eyes and deeper understanding.
