Svetlana Panov

Artist bio

My name is Svetlana Panov and I am an artist. I'm so passionate about being creative, that it's a daily practice for me. My artistic journey began when I attended Julian Ashton Art School. After getting married and having a family, I moved overseas and continued to study: sculpture to watercolour, oil painting to drawing. The combination of new skills and a new environments gave me the confidence to teach my own class for the next five years. At this point in my career I was still approaching my art with a strong sense of realism. It wasn't until I came back to Australia and experience the death of two family members that my creative approach shifted, giving way to a new abstract expression. My style is constantly evolving and I would like to invite you to follow me on my creative journey.

I create art because...

it brings me joy, peace and happiness on so many levels, life would be boring without it.

I am different to most artists because...

I use many mediums.

When you look at my art, the thing I want you to feel is...

whatever it makes you feel. The way we interpret art is personal and that's the way it should be.

The thing I most want to say to non-artists is...

I believe everyone is creative. Many times we are made to feel ashamed of our art when we are kids. You are not a kid anymore, don't seek approval from others, be kind to yourself and enjoy the process.

I believe art is an important part of our lives because...

it enriches us and gives us a deeper understanding of who we are as people.
