Artist bio

I am a Melbourne artist who works with the medium of paint on canvas, paper and glass, I draw my inspiration from the world around me, using colours, motifs and patterns observed in my surroundings that excite my creative faculty,
I love painting and the process of creating; meditative that is contrasted with the tension of controlled spontaneity. I enjoy making evocative shapes and patterns, layering forms, manipulating translucent stains with opaque forms of paint that vacillate between the familiar and the unknown. I aim to provide an escape from reality in my work, a space of contemplation where the compositions and colours in my painting beckon a dialogue with the viewer. I like to create work that helps us connect with the imaginary.

I believe art is an important part of our lives because...

Art enriches our life through sensory sensations. Art allows us to envisage that which is not, it is this power that enables us to empathise with others; to travel to other places in our mind.
